The Center will create and deliver programs that give people an educational “experience” of the current challenges to sustainability and social justice. These programs will convey, in an observable and tangible sense, how our individual and collective choices influence the human and natural environment. These programs will also help to dispel misconceptions regarding the true costs, benefits, and availability of sustainable alternatives.
The expected outcomes and success indicators of this objective are to:
- Increase the efficacy of the Center’s network of aligned
organizations by increasing their public visibility through association
with the Center, as indicated by Center visitation rates, program
participation trends, and periodic surveys conducted by the Center to
measure public awareness of network organizations and their work;
- Increase public understanding of sustainability and social
justice issues, challenges, and opportunities, as indicated by periodic
qualitative research, conducted by the Center, to assess the impact of
its educational experiences;
- Shift public perceptions regarding sustainability and social
justice, making these issues culturally appealing, i.e., hip and
current, as indicated by periodic qualitative research, conducted by
the Center, to assess public perceptions; and
- Support the implementation of public policies that are conducive
to sustainability and social justice, as indicated by the number of
such policies the Center’s network of aligned organizations helped to
enact.
