Lou CasaBianca is the Operations Director of the Global Citizen Center. In this capacity, he is responsible for developing and managing the Center's sustainability strategy, media, educational and community outreach efforts. A Sausalito-based writer, producer and social ecopreneur, Lou provides a unique visionary and triple net (people + planet + profit) value-added sustainability perspective to his work. In 1988, he edited and co-published HyperMedia Magazine and subsequently New Media Magazine, the first periodicals to predict and serve the needs of the emerging new media and Web development communities. He is the author or co-author of the Digital Video Handbook; the CD ROM Yearbook; and the NewTV, the Comprehensive Survey of High Definition Television. He provides pro bono media and technology consulting services to the Centro
de Desarrollo Integral and Novus Galapagos, in Ecuador; the Indigenous People's University
of Ecuador; and the Sierra Club, among others. He sees the current global economic challenges as new pardigm opportunities to move the Global Citizen Center's community building projects to the next level of design, funding and physical building in 2010.
A writer/producer/director Mr. CasaBianca provides a unique visionary
and sustainability value-added perspective to his work. He has more
than 30 years broadcast and media experience from both the content
creator and client consulting sides of entertainment and educational
production, marketing, and sustainable non-profit development. Mr.
CasaBianca develops innovative approaches to producing original content
and live events for social media networks and 3D virtual worlds, such
as Second Life, and for wireless devices, such as the iPhone. He is the
founder and executive director of Green Island™, a 3D Web2.0
interactive world development firm specializing in sustainable
education, marketing, and event production services.
Mr. CasaBianca has written, directed and/or produced over 250 original
film and video programs for broadcast radio and television,
commercials, CDs, DVDs, interactive training films, video games and
Websites. He has helped develop digital media software systems, Web
branding campaigns, and/or original content for: ABC, Apple, Discovery
Channel, Disney Imagineering, the Walt Disney Company, HBO, IBM, Oracle
and Sony. Mr. CasaBianca has produced interactive video learning
content for Encyclopedia Britannica, Mattel and the US Department of
Defense Advanced Distance Learning Laboratory.
