He has served on committees for ADPSR, AIA COTE, and SPUR. Sean’s experience with non profits started through conversations with his father who was the managing director of a repertory theater for nearly four decades, and his mother who is the vice-president of a foundation. His initial involvement with public interest organizations was as a board member for Friends of the Urban Forest. Presently he is on the start-up team for the New Voice of Business. He is also volunteering as a deep green strategist for Health Care for the Homeless on their $17M headquarters in Baltimore, MD. Charrettes and integrated design are proving to be an effective process to achieve successful green projects.

Sean has participated in over 15 charrettes, mostly for non profits, including a charrette for the Friends Center in Philadelphia that received the first Kresge planning grant. His most recent charrette was for a living building at the Hard Bargain Farm Environmental Center outside of Washington, D.C. Local collaborations include a 17-acre master plan for Lundberg Rice with Sim Van der Ryn, and leading an integrated design workshop to site a PV system over a pond for Far NienteWinery. Sean synthesizes from a wide range of disciplines to initiate and innovate. He participates in conferences, workshops, and charrettes around the country to discover and promote the best environmental practices.
