Explore our Vision

The Global Citizen Center (“GCC” or “the Center”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that employs public education and demonstration to promote a set of new economic practices that are environmentally sustainable and socially just. In so doing, the Center hopes to accelerate the transition to an alternative economic paradigm that embodies these practices, a paradigm often referred to as the Green Economy. The Global Citizen Center has chosen economic development and reform as its areas of focus based on the belief that many of our world’s current challenges, along with their solutions, are tied to our marketplace behaviors. The Center recognizes that as individuals, businesses, and communities we make choices that impact the world around us in unseen ways. Though many of these choices appear without consequence, mounting evidence suggests we are profoundly compromising the health of our planet and the quality of life for many of its inhabitants. The Center believes that charting an alternate economic course will require us to overcome a number of challenges that presently impede the progress of the sustainability and social justice movements. The organization’s vision suggests a possible framework for achieving this end.
